Episode 90: Greg Kelley

from Small Towns True Crimes · host Tabitha, Angie, and Teresa

In 2013, Greg Kelley was an 18-year-old football star at Leander High School in Leander, Texas. He had accepted a scholarship offer to play college football and was living with the family of a teammate, where the teammate’s mother operated an in-home daycare. That summer, a young child who attended the daycare alleged he had been sexually assaulted, and Mr. Greg was identified as the perpetrator. He consistently denied the allegations. He was convicted but 5 years later exonerated due to uncovered evidence that cast serious doubt on the conviction. This case is widely regarded as one of Texas’s most significant wrongful convictions.
