Episode 91: Pitch Talk Special Feature *PREVIEW* - BAME Under representation in Women's football

In this upcoming 2 part Pitch Talk Special Feature segment, SSLJA & JBK to discuss the underrepresentation of people from BAME (Black and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds in Women's football. In part 1 (To be released on 24-03-2021) SSLJA and JBK discuss reasons why people from BAME backgrounds lack representation on the pitch, looking at reasons including accessibility, dissecting recent interview quotes from Aston Villa ladies player Anita Asante. Quotes from Watford fc Ladies player Adekite Fatuga-Dada about barriers to entry to the Women's squad such as perceived attitude and racial stereotypes are factors discussed as factors potentially limiting opportunities. JBK with his extensive experience working in women's football (at youth and adult levels) discusses Team GB and the potential of the same issues and barriers to entry from the England team, appearing in the Team GB squad for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. In part of 2 (To be released on 31-03-2021) SSLJA and JBK discuss reasons why people from BAME backgrounds lack representation on the pitch, looking at reasons including lack of representation on the pitch and off it as a barrier to entry, dissecting recent interview quotes from Aston Villa ladies player Anita Asante.
