Episode 92: Medonations - Securing lifesaving medications and ensuring equal access to healthcare in Lebanon

In this episode, our guest is Marina El Khawand who is a recent law school graduate from Sagesse University. Her story started after the Beirut explosion and during the economic crisis when she secured a much needed asthma medication to an old lady stuck in her half destroyed apartment in the Karantina neighborhood in Beirut. Marina was 18 at that time and has been passionate about equal access to healthcare for all people in Lebanon. After this event, she established Medonations, an NGO that is now operating in more than 65 countries with medical drives collecting much needed medications and serving more than 20000 families in Lebanon. Medonations has been able to weather multiple medication crises in Lebanon and continues to grow. Marina, a lawyer, by training, is now a pharmacist by practice and is on her way to going into pharmacy school.  This is an inspirational story and an embodiment of resilience in the face of adversity.
