The very first cobblestone in the road to becoming a professional mental health counselor is the American Family Unit. Without a healthy family unit model a society cannot function and so this is where the journey begins. Our go-to guy for marriage and family topics is, of course, Rick McCarthy MFT out of Southern California. Rick's a 40+ year veteran of marriage and family work and is the embodiment of wisdom so this was an easy pick when Kathleen and I decided to tackle the topic of not only reclaiming the right to shape the family unit, but how to go about doing that.
