Episode 92 - The Imitation Game
from In The Queue - Film Conversations with Andrew and Phil · host Andrew and Phil
The irascible genius (Benedict Cumberbatch) clashes with the system (British government) in defense of his creation (prototypical computer) to help win the war (World War II). 'The Imitation Game' is not a bad film. But it hits all the same familiar notes that seasoned moviegoers are used to seeing. The filmmakers are all European, but the sensibility is straight from the Weinstein Company. Cumberbatch does a magnificent job of humanizing a character who is written to be socially maladjusted and prickly, but 'The Imitation Game' is too safe. Andrew and Phil pick it apart in this episode.
