Episode 92: Wilco, Etc.

This week, Cort reports back on Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, an album Brian has been trying to force into his life for years and which has, according to Brian, been one of the most acclaimed records of the century for even longer. We get into Jeff Tweedy, the strange history of an album its own record label didn’t want, alternate mixes, violins (!!!), and Cort’s decision to conduct a highly scientific experiment by rearranging the songs on the album by play count. From there, the “etc.” kicks in. We talk about Clue in both movie and stage form, talk Tim Curry, and Brian lauds Coyote vs. Acme, the movie that nearly disappeared into tax-write-off hell. We also find ourselves, somewhat unexpectedly, fully defending Supergirl. In the rest of the non-listening portion of our listening podcast, The Traitors: New Blood proves that celebrities are not the only people capable of behaving irrationally, South Park finds another way to say, “Hey! No! Bad dog!”, and Oreo appears to be going through some kind of corporate identity crisis. There may also be a wardrobe malfunction. Cort eventually gives Brian an assignment, and our random podcast generator suggests something involving Wolverine. Oh, happy day.
