On today's episode, Dennis sits down with DUI Investigations and Convictions instructor, Zak Schlader. Zak Schlader is a Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Nevada and has been an officer since the beginning of 2017. Zak has a strong focus on traffic enforcement and DUI investigations where he has earned recognition and has since been given several different awards. With over 300 DUI’s since the beginning of his career to present day, one award Zak was awarded was the Hero & Handcuffs award from the STOP-DUI program. With almost 7 years on the force, Zak is currently serving as a field training officer, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and as a Lead SFST instructor. With this knowledge and training, Zak spends a large amount of his time teaching and helping all different departments throughout the state. Zak’s career also includes specialty in peer support, NIK Instructor (departments drug identification system), Lead Instructor for his departments Electronics Search Warrant Program, and traffic assignments. Today Dennis and Zak discuss Zak’s start to his career in law enforcement, what has class is all about, memorable DUI investigations and why they’re so important, the impact and the lives saved when stopping DUIs, where the profession is falling short in convictions and how important caselaw is tied to DUI arrests.
