Episode 97 - The Murder of Grace Brown & Fyre Festival

from Crime, Wine & Chaos · host Amber Clifton & Erika Petersen

This week, Amber is joined by guest co-host, Allison Buist! Allison covers the murder of Grace Brown. On July 11, 1906, 19-year old Grace Brown and Chester Gillette were out rowing on Big Moose Lake in upstate New York. Grace was pregnant and she knew that she would be forever shamed if she were to be an unwed mother. This had  caused tension between the pair. Chester thought of himself as a ladies man who could not be tied down. But when Grace's body is found in Big Moose Lake, Chester can't seem to keep his story straight.  Amber and Allison shared a bottle of Atico Tempranillo Monastrel 2019. The Fyre Festival was advertised as a luxury music festival  founded by Billy McFarland. It was created with the intent to promote a music talent booking app for his company Fyre Media, that McFarland had just launched. However, after burning through investment money, taking out short-term loans, losing the lease on the intended location and several other poor choices made along the way, what was supposed to be a luxury festival turned into a complete disaster.  Sources:American Greed / Season 1 / Episode 2www.wikipedia.orgwww.bbcnews,com / "Fyre Festival: Inside The World's Biggest Festival Flop" / Michael Baggs / January 18, 2019www.cnbc.com / "Fyre Festival: How A 25-Year-Old Scammed Investors Out Of $26 Million" / Tom Huddleston Jr. / August 22, 2019www.nypost.com / "Fyre Festival Still Causing Woes With New Suit Over Netflix Documentary" / Priscilla DeGregory / April 4, 2022www.abc.net / "Fyre Festival: Where Are They Now Three Years Later"www.alnewstead.com / April 23, 2020   To sign up for Buzzsprout and to support our show, follow the link below: https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=1303834Support the showGo check out our patreon page athttps://www.patreon.com/crimewineandchaosFor more information about Crime, Wine & Chaos, or to simply reach out and say "hi,"https://www.crimewineandchaos.comCrime, Wine & Chaos is produced by 8th Direction Records.
