Empathy is …the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner It results in a statement/ idea about the other: I think/ know that this person feels this … And here is the point where epistemology comes in 2 possible errors: You may be wrong because we didn’t put in effort They may be wrong in expressing how they feel Conclusion : your epistemology is as important as your willingness to show empathy
