James' guest this week is Dr. Ashish Patel, Principal at Optum Ventures, who, on their website describe him as the physician, technologist & financier triple threat! Ash is serious about revolutionizing health care, and has a wealth of experience building, commercializing and financing disruptive health care technology companies. Before Optum Ventures, Ash served as a lead life sciences investor and head of research for Mercia Technologies, one of the most active investors in the UK. He led transactions into a variety of health care businesses, sat on multiple boards, and also led Mercia’s internal corporate strategy team. Prior to this, he served as Clinical Technology Director as part of the team that launched Babylon Health, a leading European AI-enabled healthcare business. He started his career as an anaesthetics and intensive care doctor in the UK where he was involved in academic research work and clinical practice.
