Episode 97: What can they do to me?

If one pictures David in Gath, the home of the Philistine warrior Goliath whom he had so famously defeated, it’s easy to imagine the paranoia that might set in. And Psalm 56 does indeed seem to suggest that the psalmist feared that people were secretly hatching conspiracies against him. What can the psalmist do? The psalmist deliberately puts his trust in God’s word, seeming to gain in confidence as the psalm progresses, knowing that God is greater than any human threat.
