This week we invite award-winning writer, critic, and journalist Ethan Gisldorf onto the podcast to discuss his best-selling book Fantasy Freaks & Gaming Geeks. Ethan will tell us how he came to terms with his childhood gaming roots, returned to the hobby as an adult, and turned his adventuring past into grist for his journalistic mill, producing what NPR called “Lord of the Rings” meets Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road.” On Saturday, Sept 27, Ethan will appear at Plimoth Plantation (Plymouth, Mass.) to give a lecture “Character as Craft,” for the Grand Opening of Plimoth Plantation’s Artisan Craft Center and Bakery. On Saturday, Oct 25, Ethan will be at the Boston Book Festival to moderate a panel with authors Joanna Rakoff (My Salinger Year), Max Tegmark (Our Mathematical Universe) and Rebecca Mead (My Life in Middlemarch).
