And what's up everyone and welcome back to the Daily P-Fab. This is episode 98 for Friday, July 13th 2018 at 7 23 p.m. Here on the East Coast. And this evening I found a very interesting story on Twitter that I wanted to talk about and offer some perspective on.

And the headline of the story is student push to death during safety drill in India. So I guess in India there was a college and they were having an emergency disaster drill. And a 19 year old female student during the drill had jumped off of the third floor of her college. And at the bottom all the other students were holding up a net in a staged mock security drill.

I don't know if they were practicing an active shooter situation or a fire drill. But nevertheless part of this disaster drill was actually encouraging students to actually jump from the third story down into safety nets. Which to me right off the bat I can't believe that that's how they train. But nevertheless the point of the story is that I've read two or three different versions of the story now.

And one is the student jumped because she was being encouraged to do so by the instructor. The other one was the instructor actually physically pushed her. Now there is a video of this on the internet if you choose to watch it which shows the whole thing. And it shows this 19 year old student jumping and falling awkwardly and striking her head on the concrete roof of the second floor.

And then crashing to the ground. I have not watched it and I have no need or desire to watch it. But I guess over in India the National Disaster Management Authority is who kind of governs and stages these mock disaster drills across the country of India. Said it didn't organize or sanction this event that happened yesterday and that this instructor guy was not affiliated with them.

So this is a case of a potential poser instructor that went out and hustled some college probably to pay him to do this level of training. And the whole reason I talk about this is not only because it's news and it's a tragedy and it's horrible for this victim and her family and everyone that had to witness it. But this same sort of thing happens right here in the United States every day across our country. There are recognized and authorized agencies that teach all levels of disaster training, emergency training, mock scenarios, active shooter drills, you name it.

They're everywhere. And also search and rescue. My expertise with this was search and rescue for the last 13, 14 years is I have seen these poser instructors that claim to be some kind of an expert or some kind of a trainer or instructor. And all that they do like gypsies is travel the country and hustle people out of money and give them someone else's training that they downloaded and that they teach.

And usually that ends with them at the end of the training class from a laptop computer throwing a printer on the front of their station wagon and printing them. Some bogus John Doe completed Search and Rescue 101 training from Uncle Box Academy of Search and Rescue in no name USA and it's crazy and this stuff happens all the time. So my moral of the story to anybody out there doing any kind of training or any kind of certifications make sure that you are using certified and authentic people that you can verify that they are an expert in whatever they're teaching and that they are who they say they are and that they are represented by who they claim to teach for. Because this is a case of an absolutely disastrous mock security or mock disaster drill that went completely wrong.

And again, having people physically jumping off of anything in the safety nets as part of training is just so horribly wrong on every level. That would be like when we do our active shooter drills, the police coming in and using real bullets for it. It's just unheard of. In fact, when we do do our mock active shooter drills, the police carry fake toy guns.

They're red or blue and they don't shoot and there's no moving parts to them. And we use simulated gunfire from a CD that is piped through speakers. That's how we do it. That's the levels of safety that we go to.

So again, this is a horribly tragic story. It's all over Twitter and probably all over the internet by now. So if you want to read more about it, I'm sure you guys can find it. I'm going to leave it right there because after all it is Friday the 13th, 4127014323, Paul Fallin of Alito Podcast.

Thanks for listening.
