Episode 99: Riding a 7 Day Bike Tour Solo, but Not Alone

Anna Abrams is on the show today to chat about riding a bike tour solo, but not alone. Self described as sporty but not outdoorsy, in 2021 Anna tackled RAGBRAI, a 7 day bicycle tour (and camping event) where cyclists pedal across the state of Iowa in the heat and humidity summer brings. She wanted insight on what exactly she had signed up for, so she created a Facebook group called RAGBRAI Newbies with the hope she could spark conversation with strangers, and answer some of the questions she had as a first timer. This private group grew quickly with friendly fellow first timers along with seasoned athletes who had done the ride before. Anna quickly learned doing an event solo did not mean she was alone. She shares a bit about successfully completing her first year doing a long distance tour, she did it even though she broke her elbow just weeks before!
