Episode 99: Spouse/Partner Perspective on Lymphedema

For better or for worse, in sickness and in health, til death do us part…those are the marriage vows most people are familiar with. But what about “for the few days a year I don’t feel overtaken with swelling and depression, in a sickness not many doctors understand and health that isn’t promised to last, til death do us part? This episode is going to be a favorite of mine for a long time to come. Kelly Bell is well respected and known in the lymphedema patient advocacy community. He goes by the veteran fighting lymphedema because he is a retired Coast Guard who has been battling lymphedema more than 15 years. To Kelly I say: thank you for your service to our country and to this community. We are better for knowing you. His loving wife is also a veteran fighting lymphedema, she is a retired Coastie and has dedicated much of her time to helping Kelly find a diagnosis and treatment.
