Hiring bonuses are never a good sign for any agency. In fact, it's the probably the biggest red flag in the game. Alameda PD is offering 75K as a hiring incentive. It's the largest incentive in US history. As a new applicant, it would be in your best interest to find an agency that offers you nothing other than a decent paycheck, retirement, and benefits. If they need to add anything else on top of that in order to get you to stay, the internal working environment is more than likely not worth it. Money doesn't buy happiness and it certainly won't buy you a non-toxic working environment.
