The series also generated controversy for its depiction of so-called guido culture and its impact on Seaside Heights, drawing criticism from Italian-American organizations while simultaneously boosting tourism and media attention to the area. After ending its original run in 2012, the franchise returned with Jersey Shore Family Vacation, repositioning the cast as legacy reality figures navigating adulthood, marriage, addiction recovery, and long-term fame.
