Episode Twenty One: Re-membering in times of trauma
from The Divine Feminist · host Ceryn Rowntree
We find ourselves in strange and uncertain times. And while it would be lovely to talk about something else, frankly that just doesn't seem possible... which makes this week's episode something of an interesting one. We start by talking about trauma - the subject Ceryn had planned for this week's episode ahead of our upcoming conversation with Jane Claire Bradley of Rebel Therapies. But let's talk about trauma outside of the standard boxes and definitions... and remember what that actually means for those of us who've experienced trauma not outside of normal human experience as the old definition suggests, but well and truly within it?And more; what does it mean for those of us living now - in these times of so much trauma and anxiety?Don't worry, this is not another instruction to "do" a certain thing during lockdown, to change yourself, learn something or get creative during these times when many of us are struggling just to stay grounded! No, in fact there is no "doing" involved at all here... instead we're looking at how we can be through these times. And at how in being, we can take all of the parts of ourselves that have been dismembered by years of trauma - individual and collective - and bring them back together to re-member them, and in doing so to remember ourselves and the world around us.Stay safe, and sending you all lots of love.Episode notesAs mentioned in this week's episode, Ceryn's guest next time around will be Jane Claire Bradley of Rebel Therapy.
