O verão ainda não chegou e já estamos com temperaturas bem altas aqui no Rio. Como é o calor no país de vocês? Aqui parece que temos mais de um sol. 1 - PUXAR = TO PULL. Ele puxou uma cadeira para ela sentar. (He pulled out a chair for her to sit on.) Meu colega de trabalho puxou meu tapete e conseguiu uma promoção. (My coworker pulled the rug from under me and got a promotion). O cavalo está puxando a carroça. (The horse is pulling the carriage). How do we say to push in Portuguese? EMPURRAR João empurrou seu colega de classe. (John pushed his classmate.) Para abrir a porta você precisa empurrá-la. (To open the door you need to push it). 2 - PRETENDER = TO INTEND. Eu pretendo ir à Austrália no próximo ano. (I intend to go to Australia next year.) Eu não pretendo te ofender. (I don’t intend to offend you.) Eu pretendo terminar a faculdade ano que vem. (I intend to finish college next year.) How do we say to pretend in Portuguese? FINGIR Ele fingiu ser outra pessoa na rede. (He pretended to be someone else in the web). Ela finge gostar dele. (She pretends to like him.) 3 - REALIZAR = TO ACCOMPLISH OR TO FINISH SOMETHING SUCCESSFULLY OR TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING. Os alunos realizaram a tarefa em menos de dez minutos (The students accomplished the taks in less than ten minutes.) Eu acho que não realizei nada nesse ano. (I guess I haven’t accomplished anything this year.) Ela vai realizar um sonho: viajar para Europa (She will accomplish a dream: to travel to Europe.) How do we say to realize/realise in Portuguese?
