Episodion Primum: Praefatio

from Rem Tene! · host Rem Tene!

Salvete sodales! Welcome to our new series, "Rem Tene;" a Latin podcast presented by Latinitas Animi Causa for beginner and intermediate learners of the Latin language built and designed for the acquisition and understanding of it as a language, not just a code to decipher. In this episode, I, Andreas, introduce the series and the rationale behind it. We took great inspiration from Cuentame by Marta Ruiz Yedinak for this podcast and we thank her tons for her amazing Spanish materials. Here, we replicate her model with some tweaks and entirely in Latin. We gloss some words throughout the episode in English and repeat them. We don't, however, gloss everything. Our brains are really good at deducing meaning when we know a lot of the context surrounding words or phrases. The transcript for the show can be found here so you can follow along. We hope you enjoy this show! Please take some time, if you enjoy this, to rate us and write to us! We love hearing from our listeners and receiving feedback on how we can improve! You can also support us here on Anchor or via Patreon (link below); though everything is free, it helps us do what we do and reinvest in creating more Latin and ancient Greek content. Gratias vobis agimus et curate ut valeatis in proximum! Our LinkTree is here where you can find links to all of our projects and platforms as well as our website: https://linktr.ee/latinitasanimicausa Faster Version starts at: 5:00

Undesirable noise, like air and vehicle traffic that doesn’t disturb sleep can still affect sleep by changing the time we spend in different sleep stages, increasing lighter sleep stages and decreasing more restorative slow wave and REM sleep. Noises during sleep may increase secretion of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol and elevate heart rate and blood pressure.Short-term, fatigue, irritability, and poorer mental health are associated with exposure to nighttime noise. Long-term, poor quality sleep due to noise can have a number of adverse effects – heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, weight gain, increased use of sleep medications , decreased overall health, and certain types of cancer.A very popular solution is to mask unwanted noise with a more d stevenemerson stevenemerson Composer/producer/recording artist Steven Emerson’s musical adventure includes recording four critically acclaimed solo albums, performing in 45 states and 12 countries, opening for REM, The Violent Femmes, X, Nick Cave and many others.
