Eppy 162: From Sea to Shining Sea

from OK Boomer Podcast · host OK Boomer Podcast

Laura is back from her Viking River Cruise from Paris to Normandy, and she's bringing home plenty of stories! The cruise hosted 158 passengers, mostly Boomers, including a church friend Laura hadn't seen since high school. The trip was relaxing, the food was excellent, and Laura quickly embraced French culture with a cheerful "Bonjour!"—while learning that you're only supposed to say it once per day to the same person. After dinner each evening, Laura became a fixture in the ship's lounge. While she insists the lounge sometimes felt a bit like a nursing home, that didn't stop her from staying until closing time every night. (To be fair, closing time was 10 PM.)We also discuss one of the most important topics for women travelers everywhere: bathrooms.Laura was astonished to discover how many restrooms in Paris are unisex, leading to several memorable moments during the trip.Plus, Laura asked a French tour guide what the French really think about Americans. The answer may surprise you. Then we turn our attention homeward as America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday. From small-town parades and fireworks to family traditions and gratitude for our nation, we're excited about the upcoming July 4th celebrations.Join us for travel stories, sister laughs, patriotic memories, and a celebration of the people and places that make America special.
