Calm, in despair. Hopeful, in what seems to be inevitable. That's the emotion of fate, of the foregone conclusion. It's the feeling of watching a sunset you can't stop. Beautiful, yes? Precisely, because it's ending and there's nothing to be done. The gradual swell isn't excitement; it's acceptance deepening. An accurate description for the mood lingering surrounding it, is elegiac. It's an elegy, a mourning that has passed through grief and come out the other side into something like reverence. The mix isn't sad at you; it's sad with you. From a great height, looking back at something that was supposed to be perfect and wasn't, and finding a strange beauty in the wreckage.
