18-year-old Mountain biker Erice van Leuven won the Rangatahi Young Sportsperson of the Year performance award at this week's Wellington Regional Sports Awards. van Leuven's past year has included winning back to back UCI Junior Downhill world titles, winning the overall UCI World Cup title, while also battling a major injury after an accident while riding.
