Erik Asmussen, Eclipse Award Finalist Jockey / Bob Broadstock, Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario President / Tyler Borth, Woodbine Mohawk Driver

 Today, Larry goes one on onewith Apprentice Jockey Erik Asmussen, who discusses his 2024 season  and how it felt to be named a finalist for an Eclipse Award, that wil be presented later this month. He also talks about the support that he has continued to receive from his family since becoming a Jockey and also what it is like to ride against his brother  in the same race and if there is any extra competitiveness between the two. He also talks about  whether he went into the current year with any goals to further his riding career.: Bob Broadstock, an Ontario Quarter Horse Breeder and President of the   Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario, who discusses the current state of the Quarter Horse industry in the province and how he would describe last years Ajax Downs meet. He also talks about his ownership group , the First Line Racing Syndicate and how people can become involved and mentions whether the Quarter Horses racing in Ontario are compettitve with their U.S. counterparts.;WoodbineMohawk Park Driver Tyler Borth,  who visits the show again for the first time since late 2023  and discusseshis 2024 season which was his best year to date and if he changed his ‘regime’ at all to account for the driving success. He also  provides  his ‘Ponies Picks of the Day’ selections for several North American Racetracks, later on in the show.● Erik initially discusses what it felt like to be one of the three finalists for the Eclipse Award for leading Apprentice Jockey for the 2024 season and how he would like to win the same award that his Grandfather did many years ago.He also talks about the continued support that he has received from his family, including his father and extra work he needed to put in  to get down to riding weight. Erik also discusses some of the Jockeys that have helped him become a successful Apprentice Rider and what it would mean to his career if he happened to win the Eclipse Award . He also discusses what it is like riding at Oaklawn Park against his brother Keith and whether the competitive juices flow more when the two compete against each other.  ● Bob initially talks about how he became interested in Quarter Horse Racing and whether he ever had any interest in other horse racing disciplines. He also talks about being part of the Ontario Quarter Horse Industry since 1987 and how he eventually became President of the Quarter Racing Owners of Ontario. Bob also discusses  his ownership group , First Line Racing Syndicate  and his farm in Skugog, Ontario where he raises his own Quarter Horses. He also talks about the state of Quarter Horse Racing in the province and how the Ajax Downs meet played out in 2024 and how competitive the Ontario Quarter Horses are compared to those racing  at U.S. race meets.● Tyler discusses his  2024 season and some of the reasons behind last season being one of his best ever as a Harness Driver. He also mentions the amount of traveling he does on  a busy Summer weekend which sees him driving at several Ontario tracks over the two days and discusses how he is able to handle all of this travel.
