Erin O'Hara: naturopath, wellness expert and Golden Yogi director on managing overindulging and sugar spikes this Easter weekend

from The Sunday Session with Francesca Rudkin · host Newstalk ZB

Easter weekend encourages us to consume more sugar and carbohydrates, with chocolate eggs and hot cross buns appearing on the shelves. The World Health Organisation recommends no more than 50 grams of sugar a day (10 teaspoons worth), and most Easter eggs contain more than that amount. Wellness expert Erin O'Hara says you don't have to skip the chocolate and sweet treats, but balancing out sugar intake with protein and fibre is a good way to counteract any damage. Erin O'Hara also recommends balancing out the excess sugar with plenty of exercise to delay the after-effects of a 'sugar crash'. LISTEN ABOVE  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
