from EAU Podcasts · host European Association of Urology
In this episode recorded during the EAU Robotic Urology Section meeting 2024, Mr. Ben Challacombe (Guy’s & St Thomas’ MDM Urological Cancer and Clinical Robotics Lead, a UK Robotic Surgery Mentor and Robotic Fellowship Director) spoke to UROONCO RCC Associate Editor Dr. Riccardo Bertolo about robotic resection of renal cell carcinoma recurrence.Mr. Challacombe provided his strategy on how to plan a treatment if the recurrence takes place after partial nephrectomy. He offered insights into the more appropriate treatment (robotic nephron-sparing approach vs. radical nephrectomy vs. ablation) based on the characteristics of the recurrence. He also shared his experiences regarding the status of tissues encountered during such surgeries after the patient is exposed to systemic therapy or radiation. Finally, he shared important insights about the different multi-port and single-port platforms available on the European market, and the choice among them, particularly if such complex surgical interventions must be performed. For more EAU podcasts, please go to your favourite podcast app and subscribe to our podcast channel for regular updates: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts.
