Whether it's Martin Scorsese or Monty Python. Help! Help! I'm being repressed! Paul Newman or Pam Grier. Death is too easy for you. I want you to suffer. Hong Kong action or film noir. Baby, I don't care. What can I say? I just get high on movies, and I have my dad to thank. He kept me home from elementary school one day to watch On the Waterfront because he felt it was an important film about power, corruption, and loyalty. You was my brother, Charlie. You should have looked out for me a little bit. That laid the groundwork for me thinking about film in a larger context. You don't understand. I could have had class. I could have been a contender. I could have been somebody.
I'm Beth Accomando, host of Cinema Junkie, where you can satisfy your celluloid addiction and mainline film 24-7. Bacon is key to all Hobbit cooking. Butter. Lots of butter. Lots of cream. I created Cinema Junkie to share my addiction with you. Because whether you're a casual filmgoer or a cinephile, it's always fun to talk about movies. Yeah, well, you know, that's just like your opinion, man. I love that unique sense of community that happens when you watch a film in the dark with a bunch of strangers and all cry, laugh, or scream at the same time. Movies can take you to new places.
I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. Or maybe just let you see your world through new eyes. For Cinema Junkie, I speak with celebrities, scholars, cinephiles, geeks, and people who just get as intoxicated by film as I do. To me, Truck Turner is everything that's great about an exploitation movie. It's just offensive enough, and it's just politically incorrect enough, and there's just enough action and vex and violence, and it's just like, I watch it, and it's like I'm a cat getting his tummy rubbed. I'm just purring, and sort of like, oh, this is exploitation perfection. So whether you like blaxploitation or the bard, and I'm breathing in the rhythm of blank verse, whether you know it or not, Cinema Junkie will have something for you. And maybe it'll even challenge you to step outside your comfort zone. I can't swim!
