There is an undeniable, low-grade tension that has settled over our modern lives. It’s a collective exhaustion. You feel it at the grocery store checkout when you see the total for basic staples. You feel it when you open social media or turn on any news broadcast and you’re immediately hit with a wall of panic, sirens, breaking banners, and absolute certainty that the world is on the brink of disaster. You feel it when you look at your family budget, your rent, your mortgage, your utility bills, or when you sit down at your job and wonder what the next five to ten years of technological disruption are going to do to your career, your industry, or your children’s future.Most of the time, the conversation around these pressures turns into a blame game.
