ESPRESSO SHOT: I Witnessed a Miracle

It is a curious thing that we often expect God to perform His greatest wonders amid thunder and spectacle, while He prefers the quiet of a confessional. There, behind an ordinary screen or across a simple room, Christ performs miracles no less astonishing than opening blind eyes or raising the dead. He takes a soul bent beneath the weight of guilt and bids it stand upright again. He speaks through the frail voice of a priest, yet it is His own word that breaks the chains no human hand could loosen. The penitent enters carrying a burden invisible to the world and leaves with a heart made lighter than the morning. Such miracles seldom make the news because they occur where heaven most delights to work—in secret.
