ESSIE BERRY LISTEN 2 A TESTIMONY OF A SURVIVOR

from ESSIE BERRY SURVIVED

I stand unwaveringly for what is right. My commitment to justice is rooted not only in law and truth, but in faith—the faith that teaches us to love justice, walk humbly, and speak boldly in the face of wrongdoing. I believe, as Scripture declares, that “justice shall roll down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.”I do this work because silence has never delivered freedom, and injustice thrives when good people look away. History has shown us—through the courage of those who came before us—that progress is born from persistence. From the prayers of enslaved ancestors, to the marches led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to the fearless voices of Rosa Parks, Fannie Lou Hamer, and countless unnamed fighters, justice has always required faith, sacrifice, and resolve.Like them, I refuse to be moved by intimidation, distraction, or fear. My advocacy is not driven by hatred, but by truth. Not by revenge, but by righteousness. I stand because God calls us to defend the oppressed, to speak for those whose voices have been silenced, and to confront systems that deny dignity and equality.I remain focused on justice because every person—regardless of status, wealth, or power—deserves fairness, accountability, and protection under the law. When institutions fail, I will challenge them. When truth is buried, I will uncover it. When justice is delayed, I will continue to press forward, knowing that faith without works is dead. This is not a momentary stand—it is a lifelong calling. I walk this path with courage, guided by faith, strengthened by history, and anchored in the belief that justice is not a privilege granted by power, but a right endowed by God.I will continue to stand. I will continue to speak. And I will continue to fight for justice—until justice stands for all.
