I detta avsnitt möter vi Sveriges Radios numera före detta Rysslandskorrespondent Maria Persson Löfgren, som har bott och arbetat i Ryssland i olika omgångar från början av 1990-talet fram till pandemin. Under tre decennier har hon rapporterat både från krig och revolutioner i Östeuropa och Centralasien – och från den ryska vardagen bortom rubrikerna. Samtalet handlar bland annat om hur Ryssland har förändrats under 30 år, från ett mer öppet samhälle efter Sovjetunionens fall till dagens hårt kontrollerade stat.  Inför 2026 uttrycker hon en tydlig förhoppning: att kriget i Ukraina ska ta slut och att Vladimir Putin ska förlora makten. Ett personligt och insiktsfullt samtal om journalistik, makt och ett land som förändrats i grunden.
