Na ruim tien jaar onderhandelen treedt vandaag het Europese migratiepact in werking. Het pact moet zorgen voor snellere asielprocedures, strengere controles aan de buitengrenzen van de Europese Unie en een betere verdeling van verantwoordelijkheden tussen lidstaten. Toch waarschuwen onder meer de IND, de Algemene Rekenkamer en de Nationale Ombudsman dat er niet direct wonderen verwacht moeten worden.
