Eva Bernardy Shines Early in Season | Michigan Wolverines Football News

Eva Bernardy just claimed Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week — a major early-season honor that signals she’s already a force to be reckoned with. She opened the season with a clutch penalty stroke that sealed a 2-1 overtime win over No. 2 North Carolina, while also contributing five shots, three on target. But her true impact? A lockdown defense that shut down UNC’s entire penalty corner attack. That grit carried over against No. 7 Wake Forest, where she and her team held strong against four penalty corners — defending two of them. This isn’t just a great start — it’s a statement: Bernardy is a two-way powerhouse, and the Wolverines have a cornerstone player who’s setting the tone for a dominant season.
