Even a Grizzly Couldn't Stop Amber Kornak's Love for Wildlife Conservation

Finding yourself in a tussle with a grizzly bear isn’t something anyone imagines for themselves and even with top training on how to deal with that situation, the outcome is typically not good. That’s exactly the position Amber Kornak found herself in just as her career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was getting started, but her quick thinking and determination helped her survive the incident, which she says made her resolve to continue her career in wildlife conservation even stronger. She shares her story with Nick in The Doctor in this episode, and explains why she volunteers for NDA despite her already busy work schedule. She tells the story of how her childhood growing up in Michigan hunting with her dad eventually led to her love of conservation and wanting to make it her career.
