This story told in the ears a thousand years later and raise the Jews, to the point they want to kill Jesus because of it. The old saying familiarity breeds contempt is true. They were so close to the Messiah and they could not see him because of their prejudice and false self-righteousness. We must be careful as the church not to fall in the same that leads to despair.
