Evening News - Wed July 12th, 2023

from KVMR News Hosted by KVMR-FM

A locally-governed, not-for-profit, public agency called Pioneer Community Energy is coming to western Nevada County in 2024. KVMR News Director Cláudio Mendonça speaks with Donald Eckert, the agency's Executive Director, about what we can expect. The cost of insurance is a standard fee associated with hosting any large event — but its price has risen, creating challenges for the organizers of events like pride parades, where the risk of a hate-related crime taking place is relatively high. The California Report has the story. We close with a commentary from Nevada County resident, Shirley Freriks.
