Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 21 1 O LORD, in your strength the king rejoices; * how greatly he exults in your salvation. 2 You have given him his heart’s desire * and have not withheld the request of his lips. 3 For you meet him with blessings of goodness; * you set a crown of fine gold on his head. 4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him, * length of days unto ages of ages. 5 His glory is great through your salvation; * splendor and majesty you have bestowed upon him. 6 For you have made him a blessing forever; * you make him glad with the joy of your presence. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD; * through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be shaken. 8 Your hand will find out all your enemies; * your right hand will find out all those who hate you. 9 You will make them as a blazing oven * in the time of your presence.
