Michael Thorne Jarrett   Today's Readings: Psalm 123Deuteronomy 28:58-691 John 2:18-3:10 Confession The confession is said privately. The audio file begins after confession. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. You are worthy at all times to be praised by joyful voices, O Son of God, Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 123 1  Unto you I lift up my eyes, * O you enthroned in the heavens. 2  Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, * as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, 2  so our eyes look to the LORD our God, * until he has mercy upon us. 3  Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy, * for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. 4  Our soul is exceedingly filled * with the scorn of those who are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. † Composite   After the Psalm, the Officiant begins Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.   The Lessons A reading of the appointed lessons Deuteronomy 28:58–68 58 “If you are not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, the LORD your God, 59 then the LORD will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary afflictions, afflictions severe and lasting, and sicknesses grievous and lasting. 60 And he will bring upon you again all the diseases of Egypt, of which you were afraid, and they shall cling to you. 61 Every sickness also and every affliction that is not recorded in the book of this law, the LORD will bring upon you, until you are destroyed. 62 Whereas you were as numerous as the stars of heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the LORD your God. 63 And as the LORD took delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the LORD will take delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you. And you shall be plucked off the land that you are entering to take possession of it....
