Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 36 1 The transgression of the wicked speaks deep in his heart; * there is no fear of God before his eyes. 2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes * that his iniquity will not be found out and be hated. 3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; * he has ceased to act wisely and to do good. 4 He plots wickedness while on his bed; * he sets himself on a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. 5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, * your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains; your judgments like the great deep; * O LORD, you preserve both man and beast. 7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God. * The children of man take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house; * you give them drink from the river of your delights.
