Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. You are worthy at all times to be praised by joyful voices, O Son of God, Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 60 1  O God, you have rejected us, you have broken us down; * you have been angry, yet have pitied us. 2  You have made the earth to quake and troubled it; * heal its breaches, for it is shaken. 3  You have shown your people hard things; * you have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger. 4  You have set up a banner for those who fear you, * so that they may flee to it from the bow. 5  That your beloved may be delivered, * save with your right hand and hear me. 6  God has spoken in his holiness: I will rejoice, I will divide up Shechem, * and measure out the valley of tents. 7  Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; * Ephraim is my helmet; Judah, my king. 8  Moab is the cauldron of my hope; upon Edom I cast my shoe; * foreign tribes were subjected to me. 9  Who will bring me to the fortified city? * Who will lead me into Edom? 10  Have you not rejected us, O God? * You, O God, do not go out with our armies. 11  Oh give us help against the enemy, * for vain is the deliverance of man. 12  Through God we shall do valiantly; * for it is he who will tread down our foes. † Composite   After the Psalm, the Officiant begins Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
