Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. You are worthy at all times to be praised by joyful voices, O Son of God, Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 7 1  O LORD my God, in you I have trusted; * save and deliver me from all my pursuers; 2  lest like a lion they tear my soul apart, * and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue. 3  O LORD my God, if I have done this: * if there is unrighteousness in my hands, 4  if I have repaid the ones who repaid me with evil, * may I then perish empty because of my enemies. 5  Then let my enemy pursue my soul and overtake me, * let him trample my life to the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. 6  Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies; * awake for me; for you have appointed a judgment. 7  Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered around you; * and for their sakes return on high. 8  The LORD shall judge the peoples; * judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me. 9  Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end * and may you make the righteous secure – O righteous God, who searches hearts and minds. 10  My help is righteousness, coming from God; * he is the savior of the upright in heart. 11  God is a righteous judge, strong and patient, * not inflicting vengeance every day. 12  If you do not repent, God will sharpen his sword; * he bends his bow and makes it ready. 13  He has prepared his deadly weapons; * his arrows he forged for the fiery ones. 14  Behold one in labor with wickedness, * who conceives evil, and gives birth to iniquity. 15  He digs a pit and makes it deep * and falls into the hole which he has made. 16  His trouble turns back upon his own head; * and on his own skull his violence descends. 17  I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness; * I will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. † Composite
