Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; * as wax melts before fire, so the wicked shall perish before God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; * let them be jubilant with joy. Sing to God, sing praises to his name; * lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the LORD; * rejoice before him. Father of the fatherless, and protector of widows, * is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners into prosperity, * but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land. O God, when you went out before your people, * when you marched through the wilderness, the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, * before God, the God of Israel. O God, you sent a gracious rain; * you restored your inheritance when it was weary; your creatures found a dwelling there; * in your goodness, O God, you provided for the poor.
