Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. You are worthy at all times to be praised by joyful voices, O Son of God, Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.   Psalter The appointed Psalm is read together Psalm 147 1  Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God; * for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. 2  The LORD builds up Jerusalem; * he gathers together the exiles of Israel. 3  He heals the brokenhearted * and binds up their wounds. 4  He determines the number of the stars; * he calls them each by name. 5  Great is our Lord and mighty in power; * his understanding is beyond all measure. 6  The LORD lifts up the humble; * but he casts the wicked to the ground. 7  Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; * make melody to our God on the harp. 8  He covers the heavens with clouds, preparing rain for the earth; * he makes the grass grow on the hillsides. 9  He provides food for the beasts, * and for the young ravens that cry. 10  His delight is not in the strength of the horse, * nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, 11  but the LORD delights in those who fear him, * in those who hope in his steadfast love. 12  Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem. * Praise your God, O Zion. 13  For he strengthens the bars of your gates; * he blesses your children within you. 14  He makes peace in your borders; * he fills you with the finest of wheat. 15  He sends out his command to the earth; * his word runs very swiftly. 16  He gives snow like wool, * and scatters the frost like ashes. 17  He casts down his hailstones like crumbs; * who can stand before his cold? 18  He sends out his word, and melts them; * he makes his wind blow and the waters shall flow. 19  He declares his word to Jacob, * his statutes and decrees to Israel. 20  He has not dealt thus with any other nation; * as for his judgments, they have not known them.
