Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. A brief silence is kept Grant your faithful people, merciful Lord, pardon and peace; that we may be cleansed from all our sins, and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the LORD, like the splendor of the fields, shall vanish; * as smoke they shall vanish away. The wicked borrows and does not repay, * but the righteous is generous and gives; for those blessed by the LORD shall inherit the land, * but those cursed by him shall be cut off. The steps of a man are established by the LORD, * and he will delight in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast down, * for the LORD upholds him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; * yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken nor his children begging for bread. He is ever generous in lending, * and his children shall be a blessing. Depart from evil, and do good, * and dwell forevermore. For the LORD loves justice; * he will not forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, * but the children of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land * and dwell in it forever. The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, * and his tongue speaks of justice. The law of his God is in his heart; * None of his steps shall slip. The wicked watches the righteous * and seeks to put him to death.
