Every Rom Com 40: The Wedding Planner

This week on Every Rom Com we’re joined by Asa Espanto of the Bawdy Literati podcast as we discuss our first movie by rom com regular, Jennifer Lopez, the 2001 hit “The Wedding Planner.” We’ll take a look at wedding planning as a career; look back on the truly impressive careers of Lopez, Matthew McConaughey, and Judy Greer; and look more closely at the technically impressive filmmaking driving this genre film. Don’t miss the end of the episode where we workshop at least 3 viable plotlines for “The Wedding Planner 2” and Jen gives her picks for the top 3 JLO performances in our double feature recommendations! 0:00-13:04 Introducing Asa Espanto, co-host of the Bawdy Literati podcast! Asa Espanto, is a copywriter and librarian by day, and a textile and art weirdo by night! She’s also the co-host of the Bawdy Literati podcast, the podcast that covers: “fiction that fucks.” Based on their tagline alone, you know that Asa and her co-host Jess are prepared to thoroughly explore the erotic themes in romantic fiction, and give their opinions on a variety of books, old and new! Asa is also big into movies of all genres, considers the rom com genre to be underrated, and is tired of people referring to them as “chick flicks.” You can find Bawdy Literati at @bawdyliterati on Instagram, and listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts!
