Every time you judge another you are putting pressure on yourself
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
Today I felt the caution that every time we judge another we put pressure on ourselves. Jesus made this very clear to His disciples, as recorded in Matthew 7. Many of us are familiar with the verses 3-4 telling us to first take the plank out of our eye before judging another for the speck of sawdust in their eye. However, let us not forget the preceding verses 1 and 2: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you". Whatever we see as wrong in another will be what we are judged for so we won't be able to argue that what we are being judged for is unfair. As I already know that there is a list of what should be fair for me to judged on, I am just so grateful that Jesus came to save us from judgement. It requires for us to recognise that we have a list of faults, that we need saving from the consequences of them and that Jesus has already taken the consequences if we receive Him as having done so.
