Everything We Know About HBO’s Harry Potter Reboot Series

Warner Bros. Discovery is developing a new HBO Max series that will faithfully adapt J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books, with each season covering a novel. The series, slated for a 2026 release, will feature a completely new cast, and is expected to be as expensive to produce as Game of Thrones. Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod will serve as showrunner and director, respectively. While the original cast will not return, open casting calls are underway to find young actors to portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The move to HBO aims to elevate the show's prestige and reach a wider audience than a Max release would have allowed.
