Everything you need to know about the Equal Rights Amendment

from The Mom Show

The Equal Right's amendment is a constitutional amendment that will guarantee legal gender equality for women and men. The United States has not officially amended the constitution to include it. Recently, Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA. Recent women's movements reignited the issue since it was first passed by Congress and put to the states for ratification in 1972. Host Lindsay Aerts dives into the ERA's long history, what protections it would give to women that they don't already have, Utah's reasoning for wanting to ratify it, whether it would actually open the door for legal battles over the constitutionality of women friendly policies that have been enacted since the 70's. Lindsay talks with Representative Karen Kwan who is introducing Utah's legislation to ratify it this general session, Emily Bell McCormick of the Policy Project, an advocacy group, and Amy Rich, Director of the Utah ERA coalition. See our website for privacy information.
