Evidentiary Hearing Family Court: Can It Be Done In Chambers?
from Florida Divorce Lawyer Podcast | Child Custody, Alimony & Mediation in Florida · host Attorney Jonathan Jacobs
Welcome to a frigid and freezing day in Florida. Shockingly, Florida today is absolutely freezing. Today's podcast is about the term in chambers. What does that mean? What does it mean to be in chambers? This is a very important distinction and phrase of sorts used by the courts. In chambers means in the judge's office, the judge's chambers: where they change, where they conduct their business, where they have private space. Typically, hearings and meetings before the court occur by Zoom or they occur in person if it is evidentiary. In other words, if there is testimony, there are witnesses, if information and exhibits are being presented to the court. In chambers means this in most cases. I always have to provide that caveat.
