EVOL: Burnham and energy, ScotWind spending, and the track process

This week, the UK readied itself for a change at number 10 and Andy Burnham is set to take over as Labour leader. This prompted demands from industry regarding how he should approach the energy sector.  In this episode of Energy Voice Out Loud, Aberdeen features lead Ryan Duff is joined by renewables reporter Michael Behr and North West correspondent Floyd March.  Up first, the trio discuss the prospect of Burnham's Britian after Unite the Union tentatively backed him and two demands were made from industry. Early in the week, OEUK signed a letter with 13 other organisations demanding Westminster backing for domestic oil and gas production. Additionally, the Confederation of British Industry and Energy UK urged the incumbent PM to reduce energy bills for companies. But will Burnham make the desired changes, and can he without radically departing from the manifesto Labour was elected under?  Next, ScotWind is back in the headlines as it was revealed that only 30% of spending from 16 projects that secured leases in 2022 is going to firms in Scotland. Manufacturing proved to be where the domestic supply chain was slipping, although there are no shortage of firms that have made commitments to start building, if they get orders. So that begs the question, what is the missing link between developers who have the ambition to use domestic manufacturing and the firms looking to deliver it? Finally, our journalists take a closer look at the track 1 and 2 winning projects after Floyd spent the day at an event regarding HyNet. The North West-based carbon capture storage site is looking to rely heavily on local engagement while the Northern Endurance Partnership is partnering with an upcoming power plant that will be its ket emitter partner. But what about track 2?
